Charles Bucket was born in Chicago in 1944. Despite being born almost completely blind he made a fortune in the catering business, working his up the ladder at a time when discrimination was commonplace. Upon retirement, Charles finally wanted to be able to truly admire the stunning views the world has to offer. He set up a gallery in Oxford, and it is here where you can help him finally 'see' and where he can teach you not to take things for granted.
Charles Bucket's gallery is a collection of views. Of course, he cannot see in the way you or I can, which is why he is so passionate about his gallery. Those persons in the gallery walk around with Charles, admiring the sights themselves whilst also helping him to do the same. In exchange, he may point out some things which you, yourself, may not have noticed if you were not in the company of a man who has to rely on his other senses to survive.
Only 5 people are allowed into the gallery each day it is open. To be part of this unique experience you must be chosen by the previous days group, spotted in the areas surrounding Angel and Greyhound Meadow. A ticket will be given to you by one of Charles' employees, and it is up to you if you want to come. If you choose to do so, you will picked up and dropped off, all of your needs for the day will be taken care of.
